2002...
This year's downtown White Plains New Year's Eve celebrations were even bigger
and better than last. The BID's gala was held inside the Westchester Arts
Council Building rather than in a tent -- it was a tremendous success. Thank
you to our major sponsors for all that you did to make the gala possible:
Heineken USA, Pernod Ricard USA, A & A Maintenance, and so many others. First
Class Catering, the Westchester Arts Council and the Robert Church Orchestra,
receive an additional thank you for helping us put on such a wonderful event.
Why travel to Times Square to ring in a new year? At midnight even more action
took place on Mamaroneck Avenue between Main and Martine. There was a special
effects show and ball drop that wowed the crowd. The ball drop was perfectly
timed with a big sign flashing "2003." Once the sign was lit the special effects
show lasted for ten minutes. In case viewers got cold, they were able to grab
a cup of hot chocolate compliments of Fortunoff - the Source who sponsored
the special effects show and fireworks. Capelli Enterprises and LCOR were
also sponsors of the special effects and ball drop. Thank you to our new neighbors
for making our downtown New Year's celebration spectacular. It is great having
you here in White Plains. Thanks especially to the City of White Plains for
making it all possible.
